Stephen Wilkinson has a broad experience of financial planning, insurance and mortgage broking and a dedicated interest in the financial planning requirements of the elderly client. Stephen has worked in the insurance and financial planning business for 52 years, the third generation in a business started by his grandfather in 1947. He became a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) in 1968, qualifying as a Fellow (FCII) in 1995.  He is a Fellow and Chartered Financial Planner of the Personal Finance Society (FPFS); a Certified Financial Planner Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CFPTM Chartered FCSI), a qualified member of the Society of Mortgage Professionals as a mortgage professional and equity release specialist (Cert CII (MP & ER) and a qualified member of the Society of Trusts & Estate Practitioners.

He was a member of the council of the Insurance Institute of Huddersfield 1974-1986 and their President in 1985. He is a Life Vice-President and secretary of the Insurance Institute of York and was their President in 1998 and 2010/12. He is a member of the Yorkshire regional committee of the Personal Finance Society and their “Chartered Champion” promoting the benefits of chartered status. Nationally for the CII he was a member of the Awards panel, the Membership Application sub group, the Local Institute Development Committee and the Diversity Action Group, which reported to the Professional Standards Board. He was a member of the Society of Fellows/ Professional Standards Board from 2001- 2004. He was a member of the Society of Fellows North East England regional group from 1996-2003 and regional chairman 2000-2002.

Stephen was awarded an Exceptional Service Medal by the CII in 2005 in recognition of his services to both the Insurance Institute of York and the Chartered Insurance Institute. Stephen is a liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Insurers.

He has lectured on the financial services and insurance market to German, Norwegian and Swedish students at York Associates language school. He gives presentations to advisers across northern England on care fees planning for the elderly client. He gives presentation in care homes to solicitors, residents, friends and family on care fees planning.

Married to Veronica, they jointly run their successful business in York.

Outside of work Stephen enjoys fishing, gardening and hiking.
