Stephen Wilkinson has a broad experience of financial planning, insurance and mortgage broking and a dedicated interest in the financial planning requirements of the elderly client. He believes it is only through high standards of competence, ethics and integrity that we can be seen as caring professionals providing objective advice and operating within the principles of best practice. He has demonstrated his commitment to high standards by pursuing professional academic achievement.

Stephen has worked in the insurance and financial planning business for 52 years, the third generation in a business started by his grandfather in 1947. He became a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1968, qualifying as a Fellow in 1995. He is an Associate of the Personal Finance Society; a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, a member of the Society of Mortgage Professionals and the Society of Trusts & Estate Practitioners. He is desingated a Later Life Adviser and Retirement Specialist by the Personal Finance Society. He is designated a European Financial Planner EFP by the European Financial Planning Association.

He was a member of the Insurance Institute of Huddersfield between 1974-1986 and their President in 1985. He is Life Vice-President of the Insurance Institute of York and was their President in 1998; 2010/11 and 2011/12 He is a member of the Yorkshire regional committee of the Personal Finance Society. Nationally for the CII, Stephen was a member of the Awards panel and was a member of the Local Institute Development Committee and a member of the Diversity action group which reports to the Professional Standards Board. He was a member of the Professional Standards Board from 2001-2004. He was a member of the Society of Fellows North East England regional group from 1996-2003 and regional chairman 2000-2002.

Stephen was awarded an Exceptional Service Medal by the CII Awards Panel in 2005 in recognition of his services to both the Insurance Institute of York and the CII. Stephen is a liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Insurers.

He has lectured on the financial services and insurance market to German, Norwegian and Swedish students at York Associates language school. He gives presentations to advisers across northern England on care fees planning for the elderly client. He gives presentation in care homes to solicitors, residents, friends and family on care fees planning.

Married to Veronica they jointly run a successful business in York as Charles Wilkinson Financial Planning Ltd.

Outside of work Stephen enjoys fishing and hiking.
